RUSAL, a leading global aluminium producer, has unveiled the first consignment of lighting poles made of aluminium alloys to the domestic market, in partnership with the Krasnoyarsk Metallurgical Plant (KraMZ) and Alluminate Company. These are the first aluminium lighting poles produced in Russia.
{alcircleadd}The poles are made of anodized extrusions produced from Rusal’s low-carbon aluminium ALLOW. Owing to aluminium, the poles are resistant to corrosion, precipitation and damage, allowing them to be used in coastal regions and urban environments.
Earlier this month, KraMZ supplied its first consignment of 24 lighting poles to a five-star hotel located in Vladivostok. The poles came with all the necessary technological openings, hatches, and embedded parts. They were also equipped with smart lighting devices, which allowed the intensity of illumination to be adjusted depending on the time of the day, saving energy, and increasing the resource of the power grid.
At present, lighting poles are available in 16 standard sizes, with supports in six colours of anodized aluminium or painted aluminium extrusions.
It takes only two workers to transport and install a pole. The weight of each pole is two times lower than that of steel and nine times lower than that of reinforced concrete analogues.
“The manufacturability of aluminium, together with the technique of anodizing, allows its appearance and characteristics to be retained for decades. The ability to manufacture customised shapes and sizes makes this an exclusive product within the market. The new products meet the highest environmental requirements, and one unique property of aluminium – its full recyclability – warrants a high return on value after the end of their service life. We expect that the new products will be in demand for the design and renovation of parks, gardens, sports grounds, residential complexes, streets and roads,” said Roman Andryushin, RUSAL’s Deputy General Director for Sales in Russia, the CIS and China.
