According to a recent report, Russian aluminium giant UC Rusal has been engaged in the prospect of investing in the Ghanaian bauxite industry. The news came after the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources George Mireku Duker, who is also in charge of mining, held a meeting with Rusal officials on Friday, November 12, as the latter indicated willingness to invest in the country’s bauxite sector.
{alcircleadd}According to the Minister, the object of the meeting was to discuss the prospective date for Rusal officials to visit Ghana. As per the report, the date has been fixed on December 6, 2021.
George Mireku Duker posted on the social media that the meeting was fruitful, and he thinks Rusal will be investing soon in Ghana. He also wrote that Rusal’s arrival in Ghana could lead to the resurrection of the Volta Aluminum Company Limited.
“Ghana Government is very determined to build robust integrate bauxite industry, their planned visit is likely to see VALCO being revamped.
“On behalf of Hon. Jinapor, I assured them of government’s commitment of creating enabling working environment for reputable investors in Ghana. As a country, we will continue to engage to have a win-win situation for both investors and government,” parts of his post read.
UC Rusal is a world-famous integrated aluminium firm, which runs operations in the value chain of mining, refinery solution, smelting, and finished materials in the bauxite industry globally.
