World alumina production in Nov’21 remains unchanged M-o-M at 11.352 MT but grows 0.16% Y-o-Y

According to the recent data revealed by the International Aluminium Institute, world alumina production in November 2021 stood at 11.352 million tonnes, essentially unchanged compared to 11.353 million tonnes in October 2021. In September, the output came in at 11.166 million tonnes, meaning the world alumina production in October saw a month-on-month rise of 1.67 per cent.

On a year-on-year calculation, world alumina production in November grew negligibly by 0.16 per cent than 11.334 million tonnes.

But despite the restraint in monthly alumina production in November, the daily average output grew 3.33 per cent from 366,200 tonnes in October to 378,400 tonnes.

From January to November, world total alumina production amounted to 126.648 million tonnes, up by 4.37 per cent from 121.384 million tonnes during the same period last year.

In China, alumina production in November stood at 6.240 million tonnes, 1.32 per cent higher than 6.159 million tonnes a month ago and 2.30 per cent more than 6.100 million tonnes a year earlier. In eleven months of the year, alumina production in China totalled 69.009 million tonnes, up by 6.48 per cent from 64.810 million tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

In the Oceania region, alumina production in November 2021 came in at 1.691 million tonnes, down by 1.11 per cent from 1.710 million tonnes in October. On a year-on-year basis, the output also recorded a downfall of 5.42 per cent from 1.808 million tonnes. During January-November, Oceania’s total alumina production amounted to 19.195 million tonnes, in comparison with 19.324 million tonnes a year ago.
