World alumina production in October’22 regains 4% to 12.004 million tonnes, with daily output 0.65% higher M-o-M

The world alumina production in October 2022 saw a month-on-month increase of 4 per cent to stand at 12.004 million tonnes, found the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). In September, the output was 11.540 million tonnes, down by 3.86 per cent from 12.003 million tonnes in August. That indicated the world alumina production rebounded in October after a fall in the previous month.

On a year-on-year basis, world alumina output edged 5.49 per cent higher than 11.379 million tonnes, according to IAI.

The daily average production across the world in October 2022 stood at 387,200 tonnes, up by 0.65 per cent from 384,700 tonnes a month ago and 5.48 per cent more than 367,100 tonnes a year earlier.

From January to October 2022, world’s total alumina production came in at 116.067 million tonnes, reflecting a rise of 0.44 per cent from 115.556 million tonnes during the same period last year.

China produced 6.975 million tonnes of alumina in October’22, with daily output at 225,000 tonnes. On a month-on-month basis, China’s monthly alumina output edged 2.96 per cent higher than 6.750 million tonnes, and on a year-on-year calculation recorded a 12.84 per cent hike from 6.159 million tonnes.

In the first ten months of the year, China’s alumina production totalled 65.645 million tonnes, up by 4.58 per cent from 62.769 million tonnes a year ago.

In the Oceania region, alumina output in October 2022 was 1.675 million compared to 1.565 million tonnes in September. That was a monthly hike of 7.03 per cent, found IAI. However, on a year-on-year basis, Oceania’s alumina production in October stood 2.05 per cent less than 1.710 million tonnes.

 Oceania’s daily average alumina production in October 2022 was 54,000 tonnes, up by 3.45 per cent from 52,200 tonnes in September 2022 but down by 2.17 per cent from 55,200 tonnes in October 2021.

During January-October 2022, alumina output in Oceania totalled 16.763 million tonnes versus 17.504 million tonnes a year ago.
