Ardagh Group has selected AFRY as their engineering and consultation partner to run operations at the latest Ardagh Metal Packaging factory and the Ardagh Glass Packaging factory in Brazil. Ardagh Group is an international supplier of sustainable and recyclable aluminium and glass packaging solutions for brand owners worldwide.
{alcircleadd}AFRY is a European engineering, designing and advisory service provider that aids any big organisation in successfully carrying out everyday operations. The partnership will assist Ardagh a lot as it will be able to use the expertise of AFRY in managing the new multi-faced beverage can manufacturing unit, along with overseeing functions at the glass factory.
AFRY, the Swedish-Finnish company, will contribute to environmental research by ensuring the acquisition of an ecological license for the whole complex.
Ardagh, at this moment, has 65 active metal and glass packaging facilities scattered across 16 countries, providing jobs for almost 20,000 eligible candidates, with a sales quota of at least US$10 billion.
The packaging units are a part of the industrial complex Ardagh is on a mission to build in Juiz de Fora, located in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. Ardagh will do justice with the new investment as it has a strong inclination towards sustainability.
The CEO of Ardagh Metal Packaging, Jorge Bannitz, commented: "Following the stricter sustainability criteria, the factories are designed with modern equipment, state-of-the-art technology and high energy efficiency, which will provide lower consumption of electricity, fuel and water in the process. In addition, to minimise the environmental impact, equipment will be installed to reduce the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere, and renewable energy will be used in the production."
The recent aluminium beverage facility in Brazil flaunts two production lines that can produce 3 billion aluminium cans annually. Operations are estimated to run from the third quarter of 2022 and will be accomplished by the end of 2023 to effectively reach the goal. The glass factory will begin its activities by the first half of 2024.
The Director of Consulting, Energy, Infrastructure and Special Projects at AFRY Process Industries, Nilson Niero illustrated: "The co-operation between Ardagh Group and AFRY started already in the site location study phase, and this project is another step in building a trusted relationship between these companies."
