Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., an American manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components, has reportedly added a higher rated voltage of 570V and a category voltage of 475V to its Vishay BCcomponents 193 PUR-SI Solar series of snap-in power aluminium capacitators. The devices, suitable for solar applications, enable operation up to 600V at specific conditions and provide long useful life and high-rated ripple current up to 2.46A at 105C and 100Hz.
With higher voltage of 570V, the devices will provide a maximum operating temperature of +60C and endurance of 5000 hours, with no ripple current applied. At 475V, the maximum operating temperature can be extended to +150C for 6000 hours.
Since the devices become capable to fulfil the open-circuit voltage condition up to 600V, they lower the overall cost of solar PV inverters by decreasing the number of electrolytic capacitators needed. Instead, they permit designers to employ one capacitator for string input voltages of 600V and two for 1200V.
The capacitators come in five case sizes, made of aluminium with a pressure relief valve, ranging from 35mm x 30mm to 35mm x 60mm. As polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitators with a non-solid electrolyte, the RoHS-compliant devices are ideal for DC-Link buffering and filtering applications.
