Cambio Roasters, under the leadership of Kevin Hartley (former Keurig Chief Innovation Officer), has introduced its revolutionary aluminium coffee pods (Aluminium K-Cups) for Keurig® brewers. This innovative transition from plastic to aluminium marks a major step in sustainability and coffee quality.
{alcircleadd}Coffee pods have become a staple in modern routines, offering unmatched convenience and consistency in brewing. Pre-measured for the perfect cup, they deliver a uniform taste every time, making them ideal for those with busy schedules who prioritize speed and reliability.
Making its presence felt nationwide
Cambio Roasters is thrilled to introduce its new aluminium pods, which are now available at over 1,000 retailers nationwide, including Harris Teeter, Giant Martin, Hannaford, and Walmart. Coffee enthusiasts can also enjoy a more sustainable coffee experience by purchasing directly from Cambio’s website or Amazon.
Alongside this innovation, Cambio exclusively offers 100 per cent organic coffees, thoughtfully sourced from small farms worldwide. True to its mission, Cambio donates 20 per cent of its profits to Food 4 Farmers, an organization dedicated to supporting coffee-farming families who have faced food insecurity for more than half the year.
Benefits of aluminium coffee pods
The aluminium pods tackle the environmental challenge posed by the 40 million plastic coffee pods discarded daily in landfills and oceans, providing a more eco-friendly and superior alternative. Plastic coffee pods pose a significant environmental challenge, with only 3 per cent successfully recycled into new products. In contrast, aluminium is infinitely recyclable, with over 60 per cent of all aluminium produced still in use today. This makes aluminium a far superior option in terms of both sustainability and recycling efficiency.
When commenting on the urgency of such a huge transition, Hartley said, “There’s no sense in compromising the quality of the world’s best organic coffees, expertly roasted and curated, by placing them in a plastic vessel that’s porous. Our landfills are growing at an alarming rate, and the timing is perfect to introduce recyclable aluminium pods. That’s why Cambio is committed to transitioning away from single-use plastics and towards sustainable alternatives.”
As per reports, the coffee pod market has seen remarkable growth, valued at approximately $13.42 billion in 2020, with a projected CAGR of 13.3 per cent, expected to surpass $29 billion by 2027. Leading brands like Nespresso, Keurig, Lavazza, Tassimo, and Illy dominate the space. In response to environmental concerns, the industry increasingly focuses on sustainability by developing compostable and biodegradable pods and launching recycling initiatives for used capsules.
